On 29 August, the Community of Madrid will reopen the section of Metro Line 7 between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis, and will bring forward the reopening of Moncloa station (Line 6) to 1 September, two days earlier than originally planned. In this way, the metro system is gradually returning to normal following renovation and improvement work carried out during the summer months, taking advantage of the usual drop in demand to minimise disruption for passengers.

First, service will resume on 29 August on the Line 7 section between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis, following the completion of upgrades to the signalling system and track that began on 2 August. These measures will improve the capacity, reliability and efficiency of rail operations.

Meanwhile, the Community of Madrid will reopen Moncloa station (Line 6) on 1 September, two days ahead of schedule, thanks to the good progress made on the works that began on 1 August. These works meant that the service between Argüelles and Ciudad Universitaria stations had to be temporarily suspended; this section will return to normal just before the start of the academic year.

Throughout August, various works were carried out at the station to renew the track and reinforce the platforms in preparation for the future installation of platform screen doors, which will enable the automation of Line 6. Moncloa could not be included in the works carried out in 2025, as it had served as a terminus station during previous service suspensions.

The scheduling of these works took into account the lower passenger volume recorded during the summer season, aiming to minimise the inconvenience caused by these essential upgrades to the network.

With these reopenings, Metro de Madrid is returning to near-normal service across the network. The only remaining service suspension affects the section of Line 10 between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco, where the interruption will continue until the end of the year.
