The Community of Madrid is planning public transport for the next 15 years to anticipate the needs of its citizens
The Governing Council has authorised a contract worth almost €800,000 to draw up the Strategic Plan for infrastructure. The study will analyse possible extensions to the Metro, developments in bus lines, inter-city transport, and connections to new urban developments. It will also take into account demographic forecasts and the growth of municipalities in order to anticipate demand and adapt services to the changes taking place in each area.
The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has authorised the commissioning of work to draw up the new Strategic Plan for Public Transport Infrastructure and Services 2027–42. This document will set out how this service is to evolve over the next 15 years to adapt to population growth, the development of new neighbourhoods and changes in people’s travel patterns. The project will have a budget of €791,000 and a completion period of 30 months.
This roadmap will enable us to identify the measures needed to adapt the network to the future of mobility in the region. The study will analyse, amongst other issues, possible extensions to the Metro, developments in bus lines, inter-city transport, and connections to new urban developments.
It will also take into account demographic forecasts and the growth of municipalities in order to identify demand in advance and adapt services to the changes taking place in each area.
The document will incorporate digital tools and advanced analytical systems that will provide a more accurate understanding of how people move around and enable the development of solutions tailored to each specific context.
The aim is to have a more efficient and accessible network, capable of meeting demand in the coming years, and to direct investment and improvements towards those areas where they are most needed.
