Over 100,000 passengers use the Bibliometro (Metro Library Service) available on 12 network stations. The three most read books in 2020 were “Reina Roja” [“Red Queen”] and “Loba Negra” [“Black Wolf”] by Juan Gómez Jurado and “La Red Púrpura” [“The Purple Network”] by Carmen Mola.

Bibliometro is a free book lending service available at 12 stations of the Metro de Madrid network. All you need to do in order to receive the Carnet Único de Bibliotecas Públicas de la Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid Public Libraries Single Card) is show your national ID at any of these Metro Libraries. The library card is issued straight away and may be used in all public libraries within the city of Madrid, as well as in over 90 public libraries within the region.

Bibliometros may be used by holders of any Madrid public library card, as well as holders of a Bibliometro card.

You may obtain a library card at any Bibliometro from Monday to Friday except bank holidays, from 01.30 to 08.00 p.m., by producing your national ID, passport or residency card.

Your library card is for individual use and may not be used by anyone else. Your Bibliometro card may be used in all public libraries within the Madrid region.

Minors without a national ID may use Bibliometros if they produce an authorisation from one of their parents or legal guardian and a photocopy of the national ID.

The system allows borrowing up to three books per person (only one of the three books could be from the catalogue of the latest books) for up to 30 days. With no possibility of renewal.

Books may be returned at any Bibliometro during normal opening hours or, alternatively, at any Bibliometro equipped with a 24 h returns box.

Any delays in returning a book will incur in the interruption of service for the same number of days as the duration of the delay.

In case of loss or damage to the book, the reader must replace it or refund the value.
