L.A.R.A. Line of Support to Strengthen Autonomy

This is a programme to teach underground travel so that persons with intellectual disabilities or comprehension problems can travel autonomously.

Metro also offers several training programmes to make it easier to use the underground.

Basic training about Metro de Madrid

Digital group training sessions for EBO [Compulsory Basic Education] students, Transition to adult life, Initial Professional Qualification Programmes and users of Occupational Centres.

  • Objective: to teach daily use of the underground network in a simple manner.
  • Number of students per activity: maximum of 20.
  • Duration of the activity: 60-75 minutes.

Advanced training on the underground and its autonomous use

  • Objective: to facilitate the knowledge required to foster the autonomous use of the underground by persons with intellectual disabilities or comprehension problems.
  • Number of students per activity: maximum of 20.
  • Duration of the activity: 60-90 minutes.

Personalised training programme for autonomous use of Metro de Madrid network

Training plan designed for persons with intellectual disabilities or comprehension problems.

  • Objective: training in the autonomous use of the underground network.
  • Duration of the plan: between one and three weeks (depending on the knowledge and progress of the participant).

These activities are designed for persons with intellectual disabilities or comprehension problems.

Fun activities to enhance autonomy

Fun group training activity to familiarise students with the “underground environment” and learn how to use it in a fun manner. Metro employees act as guides and trainers to facilitate learning.

Participants must overcome tests related to the use of the underground, such as the turnstiles, intercoms and ticket machines, among other facilities, with the aim of enhancing their autonomy.

  • Objective: to learn to use the underground in a fun manner.
  • Number of participants: according to the planning.
  • Duration of the activity: 60-90 minutes.

Discover “Metro from within”

Exclusive visits in small groups to discover the secrets of the underground. This is an inclusive leisure activity in which participants will be accompanied by Metro employees and volunteers.

  • Objective: to discover “Metro from within”
  • Number of participants: between 2 and 4 per activity.
  • Duration of the activity: 60-90 minutes.
