Bicycle access in the metro network

Bicycle access regulations

1. A maximum of one bicycle per passenger is allowed.

2. Passengers carrying bicycles will be liable for their safekeeping and care, avoiding any damage or inconvenience to people and/or damage or deterioration to the facilities and rolling stock of the metropolitan railway, and will be liable for any damage they may cause with their bicycles.

3. Train trips shall take place with a maximum of two bicycles in the lead carriage and two bicycles in the trailing carriage, always next to the driver's cabs in both cases. In trains equipped with spaces reserved for bicycles, they shall be placed in these spaces.

4. Passengers carrying bicycles may carry them on escalators, moving walkways and lifts, provided it is possible regarding the occupancy rate and that they do not cause any inconvenience to other people.

5. Bicycles may not be ridden in the facilities (walkways, platforms, etc.).

6. In any case, Metro de Madrid may limit access with bicycles when they may impair the normal operation of the service and, specifically, when there are particular circumstances that, to its discretion, make this advisable, such as crowds, breakdowns or other incidents that hinder traffic and mobility within the facilities.

7. Bicycle parking: Passengers will be allowed to park bicycles at stations with spaces specifically designated for this purpose. Its use shall be on a first-come, first-served basis and shall be subject to compliance with the terms established by the operator.

Finally, we would like to point out that for the purposes of their transport, bicycles that are folded, as well as children's bicycles, will be considered as hand luggage and will be governed by the regulations established in Article 2, section b) of the Metro de Madrid Passenger Regulations.
